August 25th

So on the 25th at 8:30pm I told Brian that I needed to go to the ER. Off and on the week before I would experience pain just under my right breast that would feel like some thing was stabbing me and I would feel it all the way around my chest (my back and down into my hips and legs). But it would only last a few minutes and go away. I would experience this once or twice a day until the evening of the 25th at 6pm. The pain continued for a week and half after I left the ER. So as I said we got there at around 8:30pm, they started some tests and than made me wait in the waiting room till 2am, at which time I was finally in a bed waiting to see a doctor. But before that Iain was so over tired and I was in so much pain that I asked Brian for a priesthood blessing. So he called the only person that we had there phone number. It was 11pm. And the brother came and they gave me a blessing. After the blessing the brother asked if their was anything that he could do for us. When we couldn't think of anything he asked if he could take Iain to his house so that he could get some sleep. And we could pick him up after we were discharged from the hospital. So after he left with Iain. Brian and I waited to for forever. After we finally got into a bed we didn't see a doctor till 8am. Meanwhile I hadn't eaten since dinner the night before and I hadn't been given anything for my pain. So at 8:30am the doctor came in to examine me. He ordered an ultrasound. And also ordered morphine. The ultrasound showed that my gallbladder was inflamed and the opening looked to small. So the doctor started talking about gallbladder surgery. Which made me freak out a little bit. The nurse came in to give me the morphine (.05) I was in lala land faster than you can say well fast. I fall a sleep. So surgery was out ruled and I was discharged at 11am. 15 hours in the ER. And on my discharge papers it said "you came in with acute abdominal pain, the cause of your pain is unknown." So that was the worst day that I have had since we moved to Texas.

ER visit number 2

Iain wake up this morning at 2:30am with a fever and the cough that he has had for two days had gotten worst. And by 4am Brian and I decided that we needed to take Iain into the ER to see if a doctor could figure out why he seemed to be in pain when he coughed. We got to the ER and got right in (seriously we didn't have to wait very long). Iain's temperature was 103.3 and the admitted doctor was a bit worried about his cough and how high his fever was. When we got to the room and the attending doctor looked at Iain, said that his ears looked great (so not an ear infection), his throat looked good, but he could hear something in his lungs, so he ordered a chest x-ray. One of the nurses gave him a nabulizer treatment to help with the cough. It did wonders, Iain fall asleep after it was done and stayed asleep till 10am (which was wonderful, my poor baby was so tired). The nurse took his temperature again and it was 101.7 so they wanted us to stay till it was down. An hour later the nurse came back in and it was 97.5 (normal thank goodness) so she said we could go home. Before we left the nurse told us that Iain weighs 24lbs (he's only 11months 12days old) When we got back home we all just went to bed. I put Iain in bed between us and we all slept. When Iain woke up Brian took Iain and asked Marlene if she wouldn't mind watching Iain so that the two of us could get some more sleep. A while later (I think around 11:50) Julie brought him back into us because he was sleepy and the three of us slept till 1:50pm. When we got up to loin the family for a picnic lunch in the back yard. After lunch we watch the last session of conference (thank goodness for DVR so Brian and I can watch the 3rn session this week). The little Easter egg hunt that we had planned for Iain will have to wait till he is feeling better. The Easter Bunny brought Iain a blue stuffed bunny. How was your Easter?

ER visit

This past Wednesday, I took Iain to the ER because he was running a fever of 101.6. I had called his doctor to see if I could get an appointment so that they could see him, the only time they had open was 3pm. That was too late for us, he needed to see a doctor and fast. We took Iain into the ER. When he the nurse took his temp it was 102.4, the poor little guy was in so much pain. The ER doctor ordered two tests, just to rule out the flu and RSV (both come back negative, thank goodness). The doctor than checked his ears to see if it was an ear infection. While it turned out that it was a viral ear infection. Basically, that means there was no pose behind the ear dumb but that there was swelling and fluid in the ear dumb. We were given drops for his ears and told to give him Motrin. We were instructed to give him Tylenol four after we got home (basically ever 8hours Iain was getting either Motrin or Tylenol) and every 2 hours that he was awake, we were to put drops in his ears and as often as needed to suction his nose. (Needless to say he was not a happy boy). When the nurse weighted him when we were admitted to the ER, we found out that Iain weighted 22lbs 4oz.
